How to add shade and highlight to a skirt

This tutorial will show how to add light and shade to a skirt.

It's a very basic but effective technique. Included is the skirt lineart so that you can download and practice your colouring and also a flower lineart at the end of the tutorial.

Pick a dark, medium and light tone of any colour.

Start with the left hand side of the middle panel, use the dark pen to lay down colour as shown in the below image

Use the medium tone to lay down colour next to the dark tone

Next use the lightest tone and start to lay down colour next to the medium tone

Stay with the lightest tone and blend all the colours together

Repeat the pattern in each panel of the skirt: left to right - dark, medium and light.

This is the skirt coloured completely.

Here as promised is the flower. Apply the tip technique to each petal, left to right - dark, medium and light. It works!!

I hope this tutorial will help you with your colouring.
